Week 12

 As we wrap up the last week of class, I’ve learned so many things about cybersecurity, how critical it is to protect our personal data, the importance of quick responses to threats, and how vulnerable even large organizations can be. One event that really brought these lessons home for me is the recent cyberattack on St. Paul, Minnesota. Since we live here in Minnesota, this attack hits close to home and shows how real and urgent cybersecurity threats are, even at the local government level. Last month, St. Paul faced a serious cyberattack that forced the city to shut down many systems to stop the damage. Public Wi-Fi, online billing for water and garbage, and other city services went offline. While resident data seems safe, personal info of about 3,500 city employees might have been exposed.
